South Yorkshire Refugee Law and Justice (SYRLJ) is a grassroots legal charity offering free immigration advice and representation to those seeking sanctuary in South Yorkshire.
We are the only organisation in South Yorkshire providing a dedicated service delivering immigration legal support and representation to people who have been refused asylum and migrants without status.
We are regulated by the Office for the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) and authorised to provide immigration legal advice and representation up to OISC Level 3.
We provide legal representation and casework to those whose asylum claims have been refused, are living in South Yorkshire, and who do not have any other legal representation in place.
We are immigration specialists and focus on Human Rights related legal issues. We do not do private immigration work and we cannot offer advice or representation about other areas of law.
We do not currently take on initial asylum claims or appeals work.

To make a referral please complete the form below and email to us at info@syrlj.org.uk. We aim to respond to new referrals as quickly as possible, however please bear in mind that we are a very small team and our capacity is limited.
We regularly attend City of Sanctuary Sheffield’s multi-agency drop-in at Victoria Hall in Sheffield, and Barnsley Borough City of Sanctuary's multi-agency drop-in at Hope House in Barnsley.
If you or someone you know needs legal advice and isn’t sure where else to go they may find it helpful to attend one of our drop-in sessions.
We offer training courses for practitioners working with asylum seekers and migrants. Further information about our current courses can be found here:
You can also contact us at info@syrlj.org.uk for more information about pricing and content or to discuss any bespoke training needs.
